has completed a course in advanced first aid, has a CPR Pro certificate, has not yet obtained certification
as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) as defined by the NJ First Aid Council, and who works under

    from home.
Uniforms and Equipment: Immediately upon joining, Associate Members are supplied with uniforms and
equipment. These items are paid for by the BHVRS.

Training: Associate Members join with a team of Regular Members to respond to emergency calls and to learn
about all aspects of the BHVRS organization.

Regular Members commit to a weekly twelve-hour duty shift. During this time period, a Member may respond to an
emergency squad call from any location in Berkeley Heights. Members are not required to remain in the building
during their shifts.

Effective April 1, 2007, all new Associate members on active status shall be permitted to serve on “Flex-Time”
shifts, with a designated crew. The  Flex-Time” hours shall start with a minimum 4-hour shift and may be
increased to  six, eight, ten or twelve hour shifts, with the discretion of the Associate Member.

Continuing Education: Continuting education and training is provided to all Squad members free of charge.
Training sessions are generally held once a month at the Squad building.

The Organization: All Squad Members work together to manage the BHVRS organization. Members may serve as
Administrative Officers, Operational Line Officers, and Committee Chairpeople. Committees are responsible for
all functional areas of BHVRS, including supplies, social events, and equipment. An administrative meeting is
held once a month at the Squad building.
